John Kieta, 88, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on December 23, 2020 at 3:05 pm at home. He was surrounded by his wife, and two daughters singing Silent Night to him as he journeyed from this life to the next.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday January 15, 2021 at Palm Cheyenne Mortuary in the Chapel, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Las Vegas NV 89129.
Another celebration of life for John will include immediate family and be held in 2021(TBD).
John Kieta was born in Dlugopole to Aniela Kowalkowski and Jan Kieta on June 19, 1932. He married Mary Obrochta on July 26, 1959 in Dlugopole, Poland. The village of Dlugopole is near Zakopane and the people of this area are known as Gorale. The Gorale, highlanders, are known for their wood craftsmanship. The Kieta family then migrated to America after World War II, when they were sent a letter from the American Consulate informing the Kieta family that they would have American Citizenship due to their Father having been born in America.
John took his woodworking craft from Poland and settled in Chicago, Illinois. He worked construction for his entire life and had the opportunity to work on iconic construction projects in Chicago, including the Sears Tower. He also had his own Construction Business and built his family a home in Schaumburg, Illinois where they resided for 10 years. The latter part of his career, he was hired by the Illinois Tollway. Upon requesting his retirement, the Illinois Tollway wanted him to stay on, but despite their efforts, he retired at 62 years of age and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. Every company that he worked for praised him for his precision and skill.
John Kieta was a man of honor, honesty, hard work and a strong commitment to family. He was a kind, gentle, loving man with a smile that lit up any room. He loved to play Goralski music on his harmonica and fiddle alongside his brothers. We will miss him dearly!
John Kieta is preceded in death by his brothers Bruno Kieta, Stanley Kieta and sister Angie Kieta, his parents Jan & Aniela Kieta, Uncle Stryk (Bruno) and Aunt Stryjenka (Stella) Kieta.
John Kieta is survived by his wife Mary Kieta; children Diana Ross, and Susan Kieta (aka Kieta); grandchildren Alex Ross and Gianni Ross; and younger brother Andrew Kieta.
The family of John Kieta wishes to extend their sincere thanks to their friend Jesse Jarret, Brighton Hospice, Summerlin Hospital and their Staff.
