Jayne,  I am so sorry to have found  this about John.   I pray for your family  in these times.  

John was one of my best friends that sadly life drifted us apart.  He was a wonderful friend.  We shared many good times together.    Our love for music together was great times.  I found this picture  of our band Aftershock

Lance Braun and I were in a band called AXIS that broke up, then we started to put together a new band. This was in the 70's.  Lance said he knew a drummer that would be perfect. It was John Kozich. I was lead singer and agent. John was a great drummer,  easy to work with,  so we asked him to join. 
John jumped in, and that band, Starliner,  was the best band i was ever in. We were a hot band in Milwaukee at that time. Unfortunately i made some bad decisions,  and was released from the band. 
But I hired them for my wedding band in 1984. I remember John and i hugging and they let me sing a song with them!!! It's a memory I'll carry forever!!
Rest in peace, John, God must have needed a drummer!! ❤

There are no words to express my deepest sympathies to you and your family for this profound and shocking loss.   My heart is in pieces with you since I heard the news.    I only had the opportunity to meet you and the kids once many years ago during a visit to Las Vegas.   As brief as it was, it was enough time to witness how happy he was in his life there with you...far from where we met back here in WI.   He was the drummer in a band I sang in during the late 70's called Starliner.  He was a great drummer, a true friend,  had the greatest facial expressions and one of my favorite laughs!! I have always cherished the memories of those days with him and the rest of the band but will hold even tighter to those memories now.  Life and distance, at times, takes us away from each other but the memories will remain always.  He was truly a special person and will be so missed!  I will be praying for you and your family during this difficult time...

John and I were friends and bandmates long ago.  At the time of the Natchez Band you would have thought we were all brothers.   Sadly over the years we all seem to drift apart, go our separate ways and lose that closeness.    I wish that hadn't happened.  Watching the tribute video I can tell I would have liked "grandpa John" even more than "drummer John".  

Jayne, I think I only met you once,  20 plus years ago, but I can see you and John built a beautiful life and family together.   I will keep you and the kids in my thoughts. 

Rest easy old friend, you will be missed.

My name is Fred Zimmermann and John and I played in a band together for several years. We had a blast! John was the best drummer I have ever played with. I haven't seen him  for probably 30 years but the last time we were together we went on a skiing trip to Colorado. I wish I could have seen him again. I will attempt to attach a photo of our band. John was a once-in-a-lifetime friend. We met in 7th grade and bonded over our love of music and tomfoolery, starting at Longfellow Junior High. 

Our first band together was called Thunder Bay - a trio that had our first gig playing at a school for special needs students for a whopping $35, total. It was a night to remember and our fathers stood at the back of the gym with great pride, as the kids danced to our playing. 

Over the years, we  continued to form and play in other bands, always making great music, eventually cruising Hwy 100 in our cars and doing our best to stay out of trouble. Most times, we were successful.

Over the years, we grew as close as friends could get - so much so, that I thought he should meet someone special. That someone special was my friend, Jayne.

John and Jayne were the kind of couple so many people admired. It was because of Jayne and the love of their families and friends, that  they became great parents. John was a great husband, parent and friend. John and Jayne’s children, Jonathan and Kaitlin, are a great testament to what remarkable parents they were.

I feel as if I’ve lost a brother and Jayne, Jonathan and Kaitlin remain in my thoughts and prayers. I’ll deeply miss the times John and I had growing up. Oh, the times we shared - and for that, I will be eternally grateful and blessed.

Dearest Jayne & family,
I am shocked and so sorry about losing John.  He was such a great friend, husband, and father.  The first time you introduced “your John” to the Buck-la-Vites back in the mid 80’s???  you were all aglow when you told us about him.  Every one of us saw what a beautiful person he was.  The interesting part is that you still had that love glow and respect even 30 years?  later when I last saw you at Kathy’s wedding.   Witty, charming, kind and he so cherished you Jayne. Your marriage and family were you and John’s shared treasures.   I know the pain of early widowhood and am here for you, Jayne.  So sorry.  I wish I could hug you and be there for you.
