

Johnnie Leon Knox passed away on August 15, 2024, at Nathan Adelson Hospice. He was born in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama to parents Pierce Washington and Mary Knox. He moved with his mother to Lackawanna, New York at the age of six.
After high school graduation, he enlisted in the USMC. He served his country for over twenty years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring, he went to work for Southern California Edison in the Computer Sciences Department using skills and knowledge learned in the corps. He advanced in his career and retired as a manager of computer contracts.
Afterwards, Johnnie went back to college and received his BA in Theology from Laverne University.
He moved to North Carolina and again went to work for USMC, this time as a civilian in the ID card center. He served there for 5+ years.
During all this time, he served God by volunteering in the street ministry, as an assistant pastor, home group leader, board member of the Costal Carolina Pregnancy Centers, etc.
In addition to his parents, Johnnie is preceded in passing by his siblings; Margene (Charles) Banks, James L. "JL" (Joyce) Knox, Lessie Mae Bolden, Edna Estelle (Luther) Smith, and Furmond Knox.
He is survived by his wife, Derita Knox; his children, Jon Knox, Michelle Knox; siblings, Lucinda Moore and Bertha Hopson; grandchildren, Arianna Knox, Isabella Knox, and Sophia Knox; his god children, Calyn and Alan Paquin, Abigal and Micah Paquin and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Johnnie will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at TCMI Church, 5101 N Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89130.
