John Martin Sibella, "Johnny," of Cedar City, Utah, was born July 18, 1959 in Boston, and joined his Heavenly Father Oct. 7, 2014, after losing his battle with cancer. Johnny grew up in southern California before moving to Las Vegas in 1968. Johnny graduated from Western High School in 1977 and proudly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1984. After leaving the service, he went back to school to further his knowledge of mechanical engineering. Johnny quickly became an accomplished machinist and electrician and took great pride in understanding how things worked and more importantly how to fix them. Many Las Vegas casinos have Johnny to thank for keeping things running smoothly including the Bellagio and Venetian resorts. Johnny was only 55 years old when he passed however he carried an entire lifetime of insight and wisdom that he shared through a genuine love for his family and friends. Even though Johnny lived in many places, within a few minutes of talking with him, one would quickly realize Johnny's heart and true home was in Portland, Ore. During his Oregon years Johnny loved to mountain bike, hike, fish, and check out local concerts with his Marine comrade and best friend, Dave. John spoke highly of the friends he made and his years working at OSHU and the OMSI museum. John moved to Cedar City in 2008 to be closer to family, and when learning of his daughter Serafina moving to Cedar earlier this year, John was overjoyed with the thought of catching up and sharing stories with her and his grandchildren. Johnny lived life to the fullest and touched many hearts along the way. Johnny had many loves throughout his life but none more so than the love for his daughter Serafina. Johnny is survived by his daughter Serafina (Max) Sanchez and his three beautiful grandchildren, Angelina, Max and Hunter Sanchez; his parents, Marty and Joni Sibella; his brothers, Anthony (Mary Jane) Sibella and Scott (Kim) Sibella; sister, Tina (Mark) Baruffi; along with nieces and nephews, Laurel Bunker, Taylor Sibella, Joey Sibella and Chaisen Sibella. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 25, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas.
