For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever." Amen
Jon Michael Dunning, age 40, of Las Vegas, was born to Toni and Dave Dunning in Granite City, IL. It is with "divine sorrow" that we announce his passing Wednesday January 10, 2024, in Las Vegas, his hometown.
It is through God's grace and mercy we remain to celebrate the life of Jon a devoted husband and devoted father. A family man who loved loved loved his four beautiful children and unapologetically loved his wife Jenna. Jon experienced 'divine love' of family.
In earlier years Jon was raised in Carmel, Indianapolis, along with his parents and siblings, David and Megan. He was a good brother and loved his siblings. He tended to be reserved and didn't care for confrontation. Family was a first for Jon and he always remembered with fondness his cousin Travis, who preceded him in death.
When the family moved to Hudson, Ohio, Jon attended Walsh Jesuit Catholic High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where he graduated in 2002. With a full scholarship, Jon began studying at UNLV pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management. Soccer was his first love in the sports world. Jon had worked as a bartender for almost 20 years at Hyde, The Still, Yard House and most recently at Via Brasil Steakhouse.
He was an exceptional athlete, a total sports enthusiast. This holds true to his high school years when he participated and traveled with the soccer club team internationally to Sweden and Germany.
His personality shined through in his athletic abilities and his social skills, as a bartender. He was well connected and knew many people and was always a good friend.
Jon had a fantastic sense of humor. Example: His favorite 'GOAT' was Michael Jordan, his son, Kirt would refer to himself as Jon 'Michael Jordan' Dunning.
His passion for all sports was insatiable. He loved the Golden Knights, followed Duke University basketball, the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks; he loved sports.
Words cannot express how invaluable his life impressed upon ours. We are going to keep alive the hopes and dreams of our loving son, caring brother, protective father, devoted husband and irreplaceable friend.
"My greatest treasure is my family."
He leaves to cherish his legacy Jenna Dunning (Wife), two sons, Saint Michael and Kirt Wayne, and two daughters Reyna Revelyn and Faith Kennedy; parents Toni and Dave Dunning, sister Megan Dunning (Jeff), brother David Dunning (Regina), and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
We'll never forget 'the blessing of Jon's life' and all the love we received from Jon. His light will never fade and his spirit will live on forever. Jon will reside in the deepest part of our souls.
Until we meet again. We love you forever and always!
