Army SFC Joseph Edwards IV, 41, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on June 23, 2013. Joseph was piloting a small aircraft, near Boulder City, Nevada, at the time. The Memorial Service will be held on July 6, 2013, 2:00pm, at Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131 702-464-8460. A reception will be held following the Memorial Service at the Cabo Café, Santa Fe Station Casino, on North Rainbow and Ann Road. Joseph was born November 24, 1971 in Mississippi and married Norma, at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 8, 2005. They were married for 8 years. After active duty with the Army, Joseph worked for Delta and Allegiant Air Lines, before returning to the Army Guard Unit in North Las Vegas, as an Aviation Technician. With 11 years of Army service, Joseph, held the Army rank of Sergeant First Class. He was not content with just his Army work, so Joseph went on to train as a pilot. He earned his Commercial Pilot’s Certificate and his Flight Instructor Certificate. He flew airplanes, helicopters and even hot air balloons. Joseph held a civilian Aircraft and Powerplant Mechanic’s Certificate and was an Authorized Maintenance Inspector. If it had to do with flying and airplanes, he found a way to be involved. If he wasn’t flying on his days off, he was off to the mountains for hiking and snowboarding. He loved his motorcycle, his VW Bug project and decorating their home, with Norma. He painted and wanted to learn to play the guitar and piano. He also thought he could sing.
Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph Israel, his daughter Asia Loraine, his wife Norma Angelica, his parents Joseph Edwards III and Joyce Edwards, his sister Rhoda and the rest of their families. Joseph lived life to the fullest, often standing on the edge, to get a better view. You always became instant friends with Joseph and knew he would be there to watch your back. If you were worried about getting something done, he would say “Seriously?” I got this. Joseph lived to be an “Ambassador for Aviation”. He will be deeply missed. Flowers may be sent to the family, care of the Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131 702-464-8460.
