Joseph (Joey) F. Scinta, (69), legendary entertainer and beloved husband of Mary Anne (nee Lilienthal), went to be with his Lord on Friday, November 17th of 2017. Joey spent more than fifty years on stage, using music, humor, and one-of-a-kind charm to touch hearts, foster joy, and create unbreakable bonds with his audience, family, and friends. Joey began his career playing bass in rock band Parkside Revival, opening for internationally known groups such as Yes, J.Geils, Procol Harum, and Sly and the Family Stone. It was when Joey’s brother, Frank, asked him to perform alongside him at McGuire’s in Buffalo, N.Y. that The Scinta Brothers band was born, later renamed The Scintas when little sister Christine joined the family act. The Scintas traveled across the east-cost and mid-west for decades until finally planting roots in Las Vegas, NV, where they have headlined for over 17 years. On stage, Joey was known for his quick wit, dry humor, captivating expressions, and his gritty yet beautiful voice – perfect for singing songs in the likeness of Joe Cocker, Mick Jagger, Neil Diamond, and Jerry Lewis. For Joey the most important part of life, despite his professional success, was his family. Joey shared 31 years of marriage and friendship with Mary, a woman he referred to as his cactus-blossom; a name that Joey used only as the truest form of endearment. Mary will most miss her husband’s protective nature, his unconditional love, and his unwavering commitment to do all the grocery shopping. Joey’s musical talent lives on through his eldest son and youngest daughter – a guitarist and song writer respectively. Born in Buffalo, NY, Joey was the son of Joseph (Bucko) Scinta and Mary Felomena Scinta. Proud father of Joseph, Nicole, Lisa, Michael, and Nicholas. Grandfather of Kelly, Daniel, Kaitlyn, Hayley, Elena, Kameron Joseph, and Bella. Great grandfather of Otto. Brother of Tony (Gina), Frankie (Jackie), and Christine (John) Milkie. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. In the end, we all become stories. Never stop telling his, for he lives eternally in our laughter and tears.
