Jovino “Joey” Borrero, 66, was born July 24, 1959, in Manhattan, New York, and passed away April 14, 2026. A resident of North Las Vegas, Nevada, Joey will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love by all who knew him.
Joey’s life was marked by devotion—to his faith, to his family, and to the people who shared his days. He carried himself with a steady, faithful spirit, and he had a gift for bringing others close through conversation, warmth, and an easy sense of humor that could lighten a room. In countless ordinary moments, his generosity showed itself in the way he made time for others, offered encouragement, and kept family ties strong.
Raised among seven siblings—James, Willie, Eddie, Elliot, Tony, Harold, and Paul—Joey learned early the meaning of loyalty and connection. He attended PS 114 in New York, Newtown High School, and later Skyline College in San Bruno, California, continuing forward with the same determined, engaged presence that shaped the rest of his life.
Joey served in the Army and trained at Ft. Benning in Georgia, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. He later worked as a Paratransit Driver in San Mateo County and was a member of the Driver’s Union, taking pride in honest work and the dignity of service. Alongside his career, Joey also expressed himself through music as a professional Latin percussion player—an entertainer at heart, with rhythm, joy, and personality woven into every beat.
On February 11, 1994, Joey married Nenita Manalac in Reno, Nevada. He loved his wife, his family, and his dogs, Spunkie (deceased) and Chloe. He also cherished being an Uncle, a role he embraced with the same talkative charm and steadfast care that defined him.
Joey found happiness in the pleasures that make life feel full: wrestling, football, baseball, and basketball; traveling; good food; coffee; and donuts. He collected Latin CD’s, baseball hats, refrigerator magnets, keychains, and mugs—small keepsakes that reflected a spirited appreciation for memories, places, and the everyday delights worth holding onto.
His faith remained an important part of his life and service to others. Joey was a Sunday collector (Usher) for St Anne’s Catholic Church in Union City, California, offering his time with quiet reliability and reverence.
