

Joy Anita Plant, 84, passed away on September 19, 2020 in her Las Vegas home surrounded by her loved ones. Joy was born to M.M. and Bernice Snyder on June 22, 1936 in North Bend, Nebraska and was the oldest of four daughters.
Joy is survived by her 5 children, Doug Plant of Center, CO, Kevin Plant and fiancé Liz Hauk of Las Vegas, NV, Bruce Plant and his wife Joyce of Aviston, IL, Brett Plant of Trinidad, CO and Sheila Martinez (Joe) of Las Vegas, NV. Her 3 grandchildren, Taylor Plant and fiancé Manika Ward, Courtney Arroyo and husband Chris, Kaitlyn Martinez and 1 great granddaughter, Scarlett Joy, all of Las Vegas, NV.
Joy is also survived by 3 sisters, Judy Whitmore, Kay Wells and MaryLu Walton and husband Larry all of Greeley, CO and 2 sister-in-laws, Shari Schantz of CO and Donna Plant of MT and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur Plant, her parents M.M. and Bernice Snyder, her mother and father-in-law Wayne and Eva Plant. Brother-in-laws Gary Wells, Loren Whitmore, Gary Plant, Charles Plant, Jack Schantz, Jim Brower, sister-in-law Phyllis Brower and 1 nephew Charlie Plant.
Joy attended elementary school in Lorenzo, NB before moving to Otis Colorado with the family in 1948. She attended junior and senior high school in Otis where she graduated in 1954.
Joy met Wilbur Plant while attending high school and were married in 1953 and celebrated 66 wonderful and loving years together until his death on February 23, 2020. They welcomed 5 children together.
Joy began her 26 year career at the First National Bank of Otis in 1965 as a teller/bookkeeper. In 1972 she obtained her license as an insurance agent working out of the bank. In 1976 she was promoted to the agency manager position which she held until her retirement in 1991.
She moved in 1991 to join Wilbur in Las Vegas where she enjoyed watching and spending time with her 3 grandchildren as toddlers. Joy loved watching her grandchildren grow and was very proud of them. In May of 2020 she became a great grandmother to her namesake Scarlett Joy and loved spending time with her.
Joy was happiest when cooking for family birthdays, all the holidays and many get togethers over the years. She loved sharing old recipes and reminiscing about old times.
She will be missed so much by many friends and especially by her loving family.
Joy and Wilbur will be laid to rest together at a later date in Otis, CO.
