Joyce M. Tomlinson

Joyce Tomlinson, Las Vegas, March 28, 1937 to June 19, 2020. Joyce Tomlinson, a 45-year resident of Las Vegas, died peacefully in her sleep early Friday morning surrounded by loved ones. Joyce was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and storyteller with a zeal for life and adventurous, contagious spirit. Her 51-year marriage to Larry Tomlinson shone as an example for all. Even in her last days, Joyce’s eyes sparkled when she talked about Larry. She loved to tell stories about their life adventures from moving across country many times to attending and throwing parties to laughing at their “in” jokes to raising four successful kids. Their lives were so intertwined and in sync with a language of their own that Larry and Joyce could speak volumes to each other with just one quick look. Known for her wit and sarcasm, Joyce’s absolute favorite pastimes were being with family and making those around her laugh. Everyone blessed enough to know Joyce loved to be around her infectious and vivacious laughter and smile as she embraced all whom she touched. She definitely made the world a better place. Her adventurous spirit kept her busy volunteering to do anything and everything with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Joyce was their #1 fan at all their live music gigs, sporting events, plays, dance and music recitals, and life celebrations. Joyce’s hobbies were many: jazzercise, aquacise, attending plays, and listening and dancing to live music. Joyce also had a great career serving in many administrative professional positions throughout her life, where her crowning achievement was the Assistant to the President at College of Southern Nevada. She also went on to be one of the founders of Nevada State College. Joyce is survived by her brother and his spouse, Gary and Vicki Morby; her four children and their spouses, Kevin and Laura Tomlinson, Kelley and Eddie Sachetti, Craig and Donna Tomlinson, Cris and Wendy Tomlinson; ten grandchildren, Christina, Casey, Paige, Kayla, Chad, Brooke, Kali, Ryan, Kyra and Logan; and five great grandchildren, Abigail, Aiden, Elizabeth, Wyatt and Emma. Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Tomlinson, her sister, RaNae Fielding, and one grandson, Conner Tomlinson. The family will be holding a private service at Palm Mortuary with a Celebration of Life in the Fall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children’s Heart Foundation through Children’s Heart Center of Nevada.
