Life Reflections
Juanita Bell was born on April 23rd, 1927 to Estelle and Ashley Carter in Harlem, NY. She was the oldest of the children; she and her younger brother, Ashley Carter, Jr. (predeceased) were educated in New York Public schools. Juanita graduated from Central Commercial High School where she learned to make patterns for clothes.
Juanita was a great dancer where she met her future husband, Nathaniel Joseph Bell (deceased) at the Savoy Ballroom and were married in 1943. Of this union, they had two children, Dolores and Antonia (both deceased) and moved to Brooklyn, NY.
Work Life
Juanita was an industrious mother that worked as a Domestic Employee until she entered Nursing School and graduated as an LPN in 1964. She was employed at Bellevue Hospital as a Psychiatric Nurse and at Gracie Square Hospital at night as a Geriatric Nurse until 1972. She then went to work in Brookdale Hospital in the Childrens Psychiatric Department until she retired in 1992. She was also a Union Delegate for 1199 Hospital Employees.
Second Shot at Love
Juanita received a second shot at love in the early 1960's. She then met Morris Andrews; they were together until his death in 1990. They saw the world together while raising a blended family. She was a member of Christian Life Center in Brooklyn, NY. While living in Brooklyn, she was the Block Leader for Jefferson Ave.

Juanita survived colon cancer and the pandemic. She credited her faith in God that brought her through and Pastor Clinton House with the online services.
Juanita was an outgoing, vivacious lady, a lover of great music and traveling. As being a Great-Grandmother, she spent summers with her 3 Great-Grandsons when they were young, giving them a sense of adventure and love. She had a love of Broadway and a smile that would warm your heart.
