June Elaine Parker, 96, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on July 3, 2026. She was born on November 16, 1929, in Bathgate, North Dakota, to Harvey and Diana DeMars. Though she later moved to Nevada, June spent most of her adult life living and raising her family in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Naturally athletic, June was a standout on the Mount Saint Benedict high school women’s basketball team and was also crowned queen during her senior year. She first married in September 1949 and had six children, whom she subsequently raised on her own. At the age of 40, she learned how to drive and launched two successful careers. Her first was as a sales associate for a Colorado Springs men's clothing store, where she showed a unique talent for styling men’s professional wear, quickly gaining a loyal following. June next transitioned to personal banking at Columbia Savings and Loan, a career that brought her great pride. Clients were naturally drawn to her warm personality, attentiveness, and expertise, and they frequently waited specifically for June's assistance.
While she enjoyed her professional achievements, June’s most valued role was that of mother. She ensured her family always felt her genuine warmth and love, prepared delicious meals, and always took the time to listen and play games with her children. With a twinkle in her eye and a great sense of humor, she laughed with her full soul. She was a warm and loving grandmother, a trusted friend, and a welcoming presence who effortlessly made everyone in her life feel uniquely special.
On September 25, 1987, June married Major William A. (Bill) Parker.
She is survived by her six children: Patricia Von Rueden (Michael Bucher), Deborah Von Rueden, Paul (Ines) Von Rueden, Mark (Leslie) Von Rueden, Lori Von Rueden (Jeff Pettibone), and Jane Von Rueden; and five step-children: Michael (Carol) Parker, Shaun (Julie) Parker, Kevin (Holly) Parker, Kelly Parker, and Casey Parker. She is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Parker; her parents, Harvey and Diana DeMars; her siblings: Vernon DeMars, Colleen Robertson, Marlys Leighton, Shirley Halvorson, Dorla Dean Hansen, and Janet Burwell; her grandson, Brandon Suarez; and her step-son, Patrick Parker.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being loved by her. Services are pending.
