She was born May 19, 1952 in Richmond, CA to Concetta “Connie” Yannone and Mathis Chapman. She found her love and partner of 43 years, John, while attending college at UCLA, and they were later married December 4, 1976. They lived in Suisun and Fairfield, California; El Paso and San Angelo, Texas; and Las Vegas, Nevada throughout the span of their marriage.
Kathleen received a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from UCLA in 1974. Kathleen’s most well-known accomplishment was as a teacher and educator. She was passionate about literature and cultivating, moulding and enriching young minds. She taught in California, as well as most recently at Tom Williams Elementary school in Las Vegas, NV, where she worked until her retirement.
Kathleen was an exceptional mother and wife, always putting her family first. Her children were the center of her world and she blessed them with unparalleled love and innumerable fond memories. She had a bright and energetic personality, a kind and generous heart, a witty sense of humour, and a beautiful spirit. She was fiercely loyal to those that she cared for, and loved her family and friends deeply and unconditionally. She was a devout Catholic, and was a faithful parishioner at St. Francis de Sales, near her home.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Kathleen had a fervor for reading and music. She had an affinity for The Beatles, Mark Lindsay from Paul Revere and the Raiders, Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits and was an avid collector of their memorabilia.
She is survived by her husband, John; her daughter, Nicole Everett-Crocker and son-in-law Mark Crocker; her son, Matthew Everett; and her grandson, Mark Xavier Crocker, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Though she never had siblings, she is survived by several best friends of over 50 years, whom she considered her sisters, Shelley Birenbaum of Indio, CA; Marybeth Berkett of Beverly Hills, CA; and Jan Chalepah of Kingsburg, CA to name a few.
She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and colleagues.
