Kaylee Renee Derks, 11, of Las Vegas, went to be with Jesus March 16, 2012. She was a student at Dean Allen Elementary School, where she was in the fifth grade. She was born Aug. 4, 2000 in Lansing, Ill. Some of her favorite things were art, music, swimming and family. She was preceded in death by her special cousin, Camryn Slager. She is survived by her mother, Katie Geeve; her father, Tim Geeve; brother, Aiden Derks; sister, Danielle Geeve; grandparents, Dan and Marilyn Derks of Dyer, Ind., Melanie and Edward Simmons of Lansing, and Cheryl Last of Las Vegas; great-grandparents, Ted and Aletha Maas of Corsica, S.D., and Robert and Eleanor Derks of Lansing. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, March 21, at Canyon Ridge Church, Jones and Lone Mountain. Celebration of Life services to follow. Kaylee was a great joy and blessing to all who knew her.
