It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kenneth George MacDonald, age 89, a beloved father, grandfather, and Navy veteran. Kenneth departed this life on August 2, 2024 here in North Las Vegas.
Born on March 22, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts, Ken’s greatest joy came from his family. He married his high school love and best friend in 1955. They were partners, friends, spouses, life mates till her passing in 2011. He is survived by his 4 children, Kenneth, Michael, Pat, and David. He was pleased to enjoy his adored grandchildren, Aaron, Katie, Andrew, Ellen, Patrick, and Alex. He welcomed each of his great grandchildren with such appreciation, Jay, Wyatt, Daphne, Ethan, Ginger, Mac, and little Levi. His grumpy humor, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all.
He lived a life distinguished by service and commitment. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years, serving on 5 different destroyers as Radioman Chief. After his military service, Kenneth embarked on a successful management career, bringing to this second career the lessons he had learned in the military. When he retired from Proficient Food Company, he and his wife enjoyed their retirement years, traveling, visiting their children, and just puttering around the house.
A parishioner at St. John Neumann’s Catholic church, he was an active member of the Men’s Club, spending time in parish service, embodying the spirit of community and giving back.
In honor of Kenneth’s life, family and friends are invited to a memorial service on August 19, 2024 at 1:20 PM at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City. Interment will follow with military honors. He will be laid to rest with his wife at that time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada.
Ken MacDonald will be missed deeply by his family. They take comfort in knowing he is with their mother in a better place. But the empty space in their lives is one that can never be filled.
