He was born on March 7, 1951 in Newark, New Jersey to Philip and Margaret Kennedy. Kevin was a Sheet Metal Worker for 46 years and belonged to Sheet Metal Local 88 in Las Vegas for much of that time. He regularly talked about how proud he was to work on many of the casinos in Las Vegas, including the Suncoast Hotel and Casino. On September 8, 1979, he married DiAnne Oppel, whom he regularly talked about being lucky to have.
Kevin had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of random facts, including World War II history, huskies, and sports, especially with his love of the Boston Red Sox. Kevin’s favorite past times were to watch baseball, crime shows, and share memories from his younger days, including stories of his brother, Dennis, and friends like Bobby Frank and Bobby Jenkins. He also loved reading about and interacting with huskies, including his pups, Buddy, Kola, Nala, Fawkes, and Lola. Kevin was a sociable man that loved talking to people and sharing his humor, and he will be remembered fondly by all those who were lucky enough to be part of his life.
Kevin’s death was preceded by his parents, as well as his brother, Dennis Kennedy, and he was reunited with all of his huskies on the rainbow bridge. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, DiAnne; two children, Amber (Dillon) Michels of Las Vegas, Nevada and Logan (Stephanie) Kennedy of Greenville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Reilly, Joseph, and Jaxson of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Grayson and Maddox of Greenville, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Teri Kennedy of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces, Dara Kennedy and Marissa (Jason) Cox of Phoenix, Arizona; and great-nephew, Grady Cox of Phoenix Arizona.
