Lahaina Heather Kerr passed away at the young age of 34 on July 21, 2021. Following a 2020 diagnosis of Stage 4 Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma (ACC), Heather underwent a major surgery and then recovery in which she continued to reside at her home in Bountiful, Utah. In July 2021, Heather returned to Las Vegas to be with family as the cancer aggressively expanded. She was surrounded by immediate family as she passed peacefully at the Nathan Adelson Hospice.
Born August 8, 1986, to Greg and Sandra Kerr in Layton, Utah, Heather was a proud country girl. Many happy days were spent riding her horse Freckles with her tiny would-be cattle dog Bandit in tow. As a youngster, Heather could be found working hard on her dad’s watermelon farm each summer. As she grew older, Heather enjoyed line dancing at Stoney’s Rockin’ Country and attending the NFR with friends. The frosty slopes of Utah were her stomping grounds as she became a budding snowboard enthusiast. She went on many a cruise with siblings and friends from the tropical Caribbean islands to icy Alaskan terrain. A weekend getaway to Disneyland with her mom and friends was another welcome adventure.
The eldest of six children, it’s no wonder that Heather was a natural leader. She loved warm days splashing with her siblings at the pool or simply helping her sisters with science projects. She was loved and admired by her four sisters and one brother who survive her: Misty Kerr, Trevor Kerr, Ashley Kerr, Dusty Kerr, and Tesha Kerr. She is also survived by her parents, Gregory Wade Kerr and Sandra Crump Kerr. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Most of Heather’s grade school years were spent in the small town of Pingree, Idaho. However, her family relocated to Las Vegas in 2003, and she graduated from Centennial High School in 2004. She received her Associates Degree from the College of Southern Nevada where she served as Senator for the Student Body Government. She also participated in events performed by the school’s dance department. If you watch the Killers’ 2011 music video for “The Cowboy’s Christmas Ball” you’ll find Heather doing what she loved most—swing dancing! She also served in many leadership positions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in which she was a proud member. Heather went on to work as a Tax Clerk and Bookkeeper in Las Vegas and Utah, respectively. On the weekends, Heather had fun laughing and working with fellow crewmembers backstage for many country concerts on the Las Vegas Strip.
A viewing will take place at 10:00 am followed by funeral services at 11:30 am on Saturday July 31, 2021, at 8801 W Alexander 89129. Funeral services are being handled by Palm Mortuary. Place of internment is Syracuse, Utah.
