Larnell Tillmon, a 44 year resident Las Vegas, Nevada, was born in Macon, Georgia, along with her twin brother on the beautiful morning of January 24, 1952. They were a most beautiful blessing, to Ethel Pearl Runnels and her devoted husband, Lodee C. Runnels, who both eventually brought fourteen intelligent children, to the age of adulthood.
The majority attended college or a university and they all held respectable jobs like their parents, who set a fine example as a couple. Soon, after graduating from Ballard Hudson H.S. and obtaining an education degree at Fort Valley State University, Larnell moved to Las Vegas, Nevada with her military husband, she married after stimulating their Georgia love life.
While in Las Vegas, she attended UNLV to complete her Masters, plus thirty-two degree. As years evolved, Larnell enjoyed bowling on teams with her husband. They had many matching bowling shirts, golf clubs, UNLV jackets and years of Pop Warner team coaching outfits. We're also talking some serious Laker fans. Being from the same homelands, as famous musical legends, such as Otis Redding, Little Richard, and James Brown, dancing and singing was a natural part of their Southern nature. Larnell also extended her southern hospitality into the Las Vegas classrooms for thirty-one years. She taught fourteen years at Rancho H.S. and seventeen years at Cheyenne H.S. After retiring, she dedicated her weeks to teaching English Second Language (ESL) for free. She sung at three church services, the Sunday before her passing. Her members sung with her at choir rehearsal on Tuesday. Neighbors could hear her lightly singing her church songs as she watered the grass, Thursday evening. Somehow, early Friday morning, the birds knew they would need a new signing partner. May her memory rest in glory.
One son and a ton of close companions and ken folk, will carry her memory. Family and friends are welcome to complete her life at a viewing Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. Her final home going will be extended on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Second Baptist, 500 W Madison, Las Vegas, NV 89106.
