Laura Virginia Speights was born on November 8, 1942 in Bonnerton, North Carolina to Arthur Speights and Florence Adams Speights. She is preceded by her father, mother, and sister Ola Mattocks. Laura spent most of her professional life in apartment management in the Tidewater, Virginia community. She was also an active member of the Bethany Baptist Church of Chesapeake.
Laura is survived by six siblings; Arthur Speights, Nora Credle, Betty Jean Speights, Bobby Speights, Curfew Speights and Clevester Speights, four children; Isaac F. Moore, Victor A. Moore, Natalie P. Moore, and Estella Moore, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her children were the pride, joy and the center of her life. A wise woman once said; "the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world." Laura’s positive impact on her family, and so many friends and neighbors will live on for many years to come.
