Lawrence Vincent Granelli, known as Larry to his family and friends, died at age 76 on February 14, 2022, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Larry is survived by Ann Marie, his loving wife of 43 years, his sons Andrew and Carlos (Charlie), his three wonderful granddaughters, and his brother and sister-in-law Peter and Carol Granelli. He’ll be missed by his many cousins in Albuquerque, Austin and New York, and his uncle and aunt Leon & Gloria Salerno, all of whom he loved so dearly. Larry will also be missed by his many brother and sister in-laws in New York and Florida, with whom he spent so many wonderful times together.
Larry served in the Army, including in Vietnam from late 1966 to late 1967, and later earned a bachelor’s degree from John Jay College in New York City. Larry continued his service to his country as a Special Agent with the Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS) for over 28 years. Following retirement from INS, Larry worked for State Farm, the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the federal Transportation Security Administration, and the last 7 years with the National Insurance Crime Bureau. His entire working life was marked by praise and respect from his superiors and peers. Among his many commendations the Attorney General of the United States presented Larry and his partner with INS’ highest law enforcement award for nearly a year of undercover work in New York City’s Chinatown. Larry said he hoped he would be remembered as a good husband and father, as a guy who loved to laugh a lot with his family and friends, and as a guy who always seemed to enrich the financial condition of his poker buddies!
In keeping with Larry’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services held on his behalf. He’d prefer that in remembering him you just think of the last best joke you heard, and then laugh like hell….ah…heaven, laugh like heaven. He said thanks for the memories.
