Leanna McGee Simmons

Leanna was born on July 12, 1947 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Her parents were Marcus and Laverne McGee. Leanna was raised in Omaha, Nebraska. Leanna was raised with four older sisters, Ruth, Shirley, Marcia, and Marvey. She graduated from Central High School in 1965. On November 3, 1968 Leanna exchanged wedding vows with Lawrence W. Simmons in her parents living room in Omaha, Nebraska. Leanna and Larry were married for 45 years but were together for a total of 53 years. They were childhood sweethearts. Leanna was blessed with two sons Scott and Anthony. She was also blessed with eight grandchildren, Timithy, Scott, Skyler, Isaiah, Alexsis, Xavier, Chanell and Cadence. Leanna passed away on May 10, 2013 at her home. She is survived by her husband Lawrence; sons, Scott and Anthony; sisters, Ruth, Shirley and Marcia; and eight grandchildren Timithy, Scott, Skyler, Isaiah, Alexsis, Xavier, Chanell and Cadence. Services were held at Holy Trinity A.M.E. Church. Leanna was laid to rest at Palm Northwest Cemetery.
