

Leonard Dimery was born on June 7, 1940 at his parents' home on El Paso St. in Bracketville, Texas with the help of a midwife. His parents were George and Addie Dimery. Leonard was raised in Brackettville, Texas. Leonard was raised with three siblings. He had a younger brother Charles and two younger sisters, Wilma and Deliyah. An objective and conscientious individual, Leonard reveled in the security of his family. On June 29, 1967 Leonard exchanged wedding vows with Alvetta Hall at the Goodfellow Air Force Base Chapel of San Angelo, Texas. Leonard was blessed with five children, two sons, Paul and Cecil, and three daughters, Jeanetta, Pamela and Leondra. They were also blessed with ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Grandchildren; Marcus, Natasha, Shaun, Donald Jr., Christopher, Benard, Domonique, Dejah, Mackenzie and Marselles. Great grandchildren; Nyjaee, Christopher Jr., Adrianna and Leila. Leonard's primary occupation was a Logistics Supervisor. He was employed with USAF for 21 years, then he worked for Lockheed Martin for 18 years, then Dyn Corp. For 5 years before he retired. Leonard was a team player who certainly lived out the motto of “give me a job, and I will get it done.” Leonard saw action for the Vietnam War. Through his hard work and dedication, he achieved the rank of Tech Sergeant. He received several awards recognizing his for his heroism, including a Good Conduct Medal and Sharp-Shooter awards. Leonard was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of Leonard’s favorites was His dogs Barry, Lance and Coco who were all standard poodles. They were best friends for 8 years. Leonard fought a brave battle until the very end against lung cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Alvetta; his children, Cecil, Jeanetta, Pam and Leondra; his grandchildren, Marcus, Natasha, Shaun, Donald Jr., Christoher, Benard, Domonique, Dejah, Mackenzie and Marselles; his great grandchildren, Nyjaee, Christopher Jr., Adrianna and Leila; his brother Charles and his sisters Wilma and Delilah. Services were held at Palm Mortuary Cheyenne, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada 89129. Leonard was laid to rest in the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
