Leslie Clifton Mitchell Jr. was born to Leslie Clifton Mitchell and Louise Theresa Graham on May 7, 1949, in Cleveland, OH. He was the eldest of six children and was affectionately called Butch as he grew up.
Butch began his dancing career at the age of three, he would dance at the corner store for candy. As he grew older, he danced at Cabaret parties and he was a dancer at the Upbeat Show. Butch was baptized at the age of five at Mt. Herman Baptist Church where his family attended. This is also where he met his future wife Sandra Brown and dated through school. A product of Cleveland public school system, he attended Giddings Elementary School, George Washington Carver Elementary School, Central Junior High School, and then East Technical High School where he graduated in 1967. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army where he did two tours in Vietnam.
After returning from the service Les and San were married in 1973, that resulted in a forty-seven-year union and produced three beautiful children.
Les work career consisted of working at Republic Steel, guarding a ship at night before going to work at Navy Finance in Cleveland, OH until 1977. In 1977, he moved his family to Las Vegas, NV where he worked at the Phone Company, Housing Authority. Then he began working at the Veterans Administration where he was a mail clerk, union steward and worked his way up to the president of the union, until his retirement in 2011.
Left with memories of him are wife; Sandra Mitchell, his children; Eric Mitchell, Maximilian Mitchell and Diseree Mitchell. Grandchildren; Diante Mitchell, NiaRenee Mitchell, Angel Mitchell, Christian Bell, Aja Hawkins and Dalon Mitchell. Great-Grandchildren; Haze-Renee, Faith and Hope. Siblings; Reginald Mitchell, Geraldine Organ (James - deceased), Belinda Harris (Rickey Sr.), Robert Mitchell and Cheryl Halsey (Patrick Sr.). In-laws; Mae Brown Anderson (Mother-on-law), Patricia Teamer, Bernice Brown, Lena Acoff and Nadine Edwards (Sisters-in-law). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
