Leya met the “Love of her Life”, Jorge Negron on a Carnival Cruise in 1976. He was the Casino Manager and she came on as a new employee and immediately stole his heart. It was the love they were both waiting for their entire life. On April 25, 1978, Leya exchanged wedding vows with Jorge at his mother’s home in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Over the next several years they enjoyed their careers which offered them the opportunity to travel the world. Her favorite trips were to Israel to visit her mother, nephew and his family. Their love story began in Puerto Rico. From there they lived in Miami for many years and finally settled in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Leya found her work home at the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino where she dedicated her life for the last 20 years as a Casino Supervisor. Her dedication and strong work ethic led to receiving an award for Employee of the Year. Although her work was certainly a priority, her relationship with her husband was the most important part of her life. She loved when he accompanied her on shopping sprees and they also shared a mutual passion for basketball and hockey.
Leya was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. A few of Leya's favorites were Rocky, a Dachshund and two German Shepherds, Maverick and Max. They were her best friends for many years.
Leya fought a brave battle against cancer and left this world at peace and on her own terms to join her mother and sister who transitioned before her. Leya leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved and devoted husband of 40 years, Jorge, and dear nephew, Michael Osetrov, his wife, Esther and their children, Arin, Elay, Mia and Liel. She is also survived by her Stepson Jorge Negron., along with her brother-in-law, Orlando Sr., sister-in-laws, Edith, and Angeles, and nephews Orlando and Rolando. She will also be missed greatly by her special friends the Cortez and McCauley familes and many other relatives and dear friends.
