With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Lisa Rice, who departed this life peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at a hospital in Summerlin, Nevada, following a courageous and grace-filled battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was 56 years old.
Lisa was a radiant soul whose kindness, warmth, strength, and beautiful spirit touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She carried herself with elegance, compassion, resilience, and an unwavering love for others, even throughout the most difficult moments of her illness.
Born on October 21, 1969, Lisa lived a life filled with passion, generosity, and love. She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, infectious smile, and the extraordinary way she made people feel seen, valued, and cared for.
In March of 2021, Lisa was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Over the following five years, she faced her illness with extraordinary courage, dignity, grace, and determination. Through every stage of her journey, her beloved husband, Jonathan Brett Rice, remained faithfully by her side as her devoted husband, caregiver, advocate, and best friend.
Lisa and Jonathan were married on September 15, 2007, in a picturesque waterfront ceremony in Laguna Beach, California. From the moment they found one another, they shared a love that was extraordinary rooted in friendship, strengthened by unwavering loyalty, and defined by a deep and enduring connection as soulmates, lovers, and best friends. They navigated life's joys and challenges hand in hand, always placing one another at the center of their hearts. Their relationship was a beautiful example of unconditional love, mutual respect, and steadfast devotion. To witness Lisa and Jonathan together was to witness a rare kind of love; one that inspired everyone around them and leaves an enduring legacy that will never fade.
Lisa not only leaves behind her devoted husband and soulmate, Jonathan Brett Rice, but also her two cherished companions, Touchdown and Habanero, who brought immense joy, comfort, and companionship to her life.
After the heartbreaking loss of her beloved dog, Muchacho, Touchdown entered Lisa's life as a rescue dog and quickly became her constant shadow and faithful friend. Rarely more than a few steps behind her, Touchdown followed Lisa everywhere, providing unconditional love, daily companionship, and a reason to keep moving forward. His boundless enthusiasm encouraged Lisa to take her daily walks, embrace each day, and find joy in life's simple moments, even during her most difficult years.
Habanero, a foster cat whom Lisa had never intended to keep, quickly captured her heart and became a permanent member of the family. What began as a temporary arrangement blossomed into a deep bond filled with affection, comfort, and countless cherished moments.
Lisa often joked, "I wish I could wake up every day as happy as Touchdown!" Those who knew her understood that statement perfectly; it reflected not only her love for her pets but also her ability to find humor, gratitude, and happiness in the little things. Touchdown and Habanero were more than pets; they were beloved family members who provided unconditional love, companionship, and comfort throughout Lisa's courageous journey.
Lisa was also deeply cherished by an incredible group of friends who rallied around her with steadfast support, lifting her spirits through every challenge and celebrating every victory along the way. Their friendship brought immeasurable comfort to Lisa and Jonathan and served as a testament to the profound impact Lisa had on the lives of so many.
Lisa fought her illness with extraordinary courage and grace; she never walked that journey alone. Jonathan remained her constant source of love, strength, and devotion, caring for her with a selflessness that inspired everyone who knew them.
Lisa’s light, love, courage, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer physically with us, her memory will continue to inspire kindness, strength, compassion, and grace in all whose lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
