She was preceded in death and embraced in heaven by her loving parents and parents-in-laws Barbara and James and Maria Eulogia and Jose Jesus, as well as her siblings Roy, Totsy, Connie, and Charles.
Lorie was born in 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada, a city that would continue to grow and change through her entire life. Her early years were spent going to school, spending time with her family, and baking with her mom. They would also take annual trips to Utah to visit family and to go camping, a tradition she would later carry on with her own kids. Then in 1988 she would meet Manuel Silva and by 1991 they would marry and have their first born child Kyrsta. She and her husband would then live their lives together having 3 more kids with their youngest Shaun being born the year of their 10th anniversary. During this time Lorie was a homemaker making sure her kids and home were taken care of. She would participate in school events, cook great meals, and lend an ear to any who needed it, eventually becoming somewhat of a second mom to many of her kids' friends. The family would also take trips to go camping and to visit family in Utah, during this time she would engage in her favorite pastimes of fishing and hiking, while also being able to get closer to her late grandfather George. Lorie would continue more traditions as she would host every holiday in the same way her mother would, with lots of love and care, making her home a destination everyone loved to go to. She would also spend the entire month of December baking with her kids, giving the baked goods to friends, family, teachers, neighbours, and more. Eventually her kids would grow up and her marriage with Manuel would end in 2017. During this time she would focus on being an amazing mother to her youngest son Shaun and a stupendous grandmother to her ever growing batch of grandchildren. She would also begin working as a receptionist, a perfect position for one as friendly and inviting as she was. The last years of her life were filled with spending time with her grandchildren and children while also working hard to make her and her sons life better.
Lorie was a special soul who touched the hearts and lives of many people. Whether it was working on her smurf village with Eli and Nicoh, doing art with Axel and Nova, or going on “Tamma walks” with David and Madalynn, Lorie would always make time to spend time with her grandchildren. Lorie was also a lover of animals having multiple dogs throughout her life, from her childhood dog Princess to her last dog Navi she showed love and compassion for all her furry friends.
Lorie was a lover of nature and art, she loved exploring the mountains, fishing in lakes, and drawing and coloring. She would pass this love to her kids with Kyrsta’s love of plants, Manny’s love of animals, Destyna’s love of camping, and Shaun’s love of insects. Lorie also liked games, playing Farm Town with her grandfather, Smurf Village with her grandkids, and Pokémon with her son. Lorie was also a lover of Christmas, always decorating, putting up her village, and baking. She was also a lover of Christ and could always be found praying and reading the bible before bed.
Lorie was a special soul, faithful, godfearing, resilient, strong willed, loving, caring, and selfless are but a few words to describe this amazing woman. Her legacy reminds us to be strong when faced with tough odds, to love those around us, to forgive those who've wronged us, to trust in the teachings of Christ, and to always be there for your family.
The Silva family thanks all of those who were there for her and who are there for our family, she meant so much to us and many others. God bless and continue to keep her in your memories and prayers.
