Born to Trinidad and Pedro Quirante on February 6, 1935 in Baguio City, Philippines.
She is the eldest of ten children. She was married for 50 years to the first and only love of her life, Bernabe Navarro Calicdan (June 15, 1928-July 11, 2005) on June 5th, 1955.
Together they had seven children: Ramon, Bernadette, John, Jane, May, Celia and Farah.
They lived in the Philippines, Iran, Guam, Hawaii and finally, Las Vegas, Nevada.
She enjoyed singing and listening to music, snacking on McDonald’s French fries with no salt, reading her bible, cooking delicious filipino food for her family, sewing/crocheting while watching The Golden Girls, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and many other TV shows along with her TFC (The Filipino Channel). She loved shopping, being pampered whether going to the nail and hair salon or getting a foot massage from her kids or grandkids. She also enjoyed going to the movies and eating her bucket of popcorn with a 7-up or Coke. Mamang was our rock, our person to go to for advice and comfort. She was hilarious, smart, opinionated, independent, super strong and tough as nails making us believe she would outlive us all.
We will miss listening to the stories she loved to share about her childhood, her life with Papang and other random stories about her children and grandchildren. We will miss her voice, her laugh and her smile.
Life will never be the same without her here and we will miss her terribly.
Mamang leaves behind her seven children, 26 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, her seven surviving siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and all her extended family and her friends around the world.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25th at 10am with graveside service followed by a reception at Palm Mortuary on North Jones in Las Vegas, NV.
Thank you to all our family and friends for your support, prayers and love during this very difficult time. Mamang and Papang are together now.
The family requests that no photos are to be taken during the services.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmnorthwest.com for the Calicdan family.
