In the early morning hours of February 16, 2015 Lovella Elaine Green passed away at the Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada as the result of a heart attack. Her loving daughter Emily Green was able to be with her at the time of her passing. Lovella was 61 years of age.
Lovella was born in Muleshoe, Texas in November of 1953 to Gordon Douglas and Emily Jean Smith. The growing family, though, soon moved to Albuquerque, NM where Lovella helped to care for and watch over her four younger siblings. She attended Pajarito Elementary School and Harrison Junior High School before graduating from Rio Grande High School with top honors in 1971. She continued her education by earning a bachelor's degree in both math and English and later on, she earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and a masters degree in small business administration. She taught math and English for ten years before becoming an accountant.
While still in college, Lovella met and married Joseph Vernon Green and gave birth to her only child, a daughter, Emily Elaine Green whom she doted on and loved dearly. Emily, herself, gave birth to one daughter, Alexandryah Jayde Goldblatt. Lovella was able to spend the last few years of her life helping to raise her beautiful, energetic, and intelligent granddaughter.
Many people admired Lovella for being a very determined, fiercely independent, and extremely intelligent lady, but those who knew her best most appreciated how sensitive and kind-hearted she was. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
Lovella was preceded in death by her father Gordon Douglas Smith and her brother Thomas Melton Smith. She is survived by her daughter Emily, her granddaughter Alexandryah, her mother Emily Jean Smith and her three sisters: Melissa Nelson (and her husband Brad), TreseaBallard, and LouAnne Schulte (and her husband Danny). She also leaves behind five nephews and a great nephew: Douglas Ballard, Jeremy Ballard, Nicholas Ballard, Christopher Nelson, George Schulte and Steven Shealy. She has one surviving aunt, Carol Dean Seaborn.
A memorial service for Lovella will be held at a family residence on March 14, 2015. Those who would like to attend need to contact one of the family members. Arrangements are under the direction of Palm Northwest Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
