Las Vegas pioneers, Madeline G. Murphy Lesky from Spokane Washington, married Albert Lesky, she arrived in Las Vegas with her husband Albert from Hollywood, California in 1949. Both in the entertainment Industry, Madeline Lesky a professional dancer and Albert Lesky, a musician on the road with the Henry King Orchestra. Madeline performed in the showrooms of the San Diego Paris Inn and also at the Las Vegas Thunderbird and El Rancho Hotels in her early days. In the 1950’s being a dancer and Drum Majorette, Madeline led several Helldorado parade celebration bands down Fremont Street. Albert was later band manager for Antonio Morelli’s Orchestra, Don Vincent’s Orchestra, as well as Wayne Newton’s band manager/Conductor in the Copa Room at the Sands Hotel. In the 1950s Madeline and Albert established On Stage, one of the first retail theatrical supply, costume, tuxedo and bridal rental businesses in Las Vegas. The business thrived for several years in the Southwest Gas building, 2007 Las Vegas Boulevard South at St Louis St., now Alarmco. In the 1960s Madeline moved the business across from the Stardust Hotel into Fashion Square at 3049 Las Vegas Boulevard South, now Gold Key Shops. The business was there for 30 years, eventually being re-established as a gift, apparel, and souvenir store and re-named Las Vegas Memorabilia and Apparel. Madeline was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and St Francis Roman Catholic Church. Madeline and Albert built the Silver Dust Apartments at 110 W. St Louis St., in Las Vegas, which was later demolished and consumed by Bob Stupak and Vegas World, now the Stratosphere Hotel. Madeline Owned Las Vegas Memorabilia and Apparel until she retired in the 1990’s. In her later years she was an Ambassador of Courtesy at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Most Recently Madeline taught and choreographed a dance troupe at Anthem Community Center in Henderson. Madeline is 95, born August 12, 1922, passed away on March 18, 2019. Madeline will be sorely misses by everyone who knew her. Madeline and Albert have 2 children, Mark and Mary. The last viewing and visitation will be held at Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101, 702 464 8300, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday April 2nd with placement on Wednesday April 3rd at 1:00 PM. Church services have already been held.
