

Mae Nan was born January 18, 1938 to the union of Elijah Chubbs and Annie Laura Johnson in Chattanooga Tennessee. She was called home to rest on March 26, 2024, in Las Vegas Nevada where she lived for the past 19 years. She was 86. She will be deeply missed by many, but especially her family.
Mae graduated from Howard High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She danced her way through school, perfecting tap and ballet and taught dance classes to younger children. She was also a gifted seamstress. Mae attended word of life Christian center where she loved to hear the gospel. For many years while raising her children she took pride in managing the housekeeping department in 5-star hotels. She won multiple awards and was recognized for her outstanding leadership and contributions in improving the integrity and efficiency in the hospitality industry. She was a strong willed, hardworking woman. She sacrificed for her family and would protect them at all costs.
Mae’s personality was infectious. Her stories would leave you with a smile on your face and with unforgettable memories. She was very honest, outspoken, and upfront. The advice she gave was real and from her own experience. Mae would embrace people who others would turn their back on.
One cannot speak about Mae without speaking about her love for Football (Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys), Golf, puzzles, soap operas and daytime TV game shows. Her TV was programmed to remind her of all her favorite shows. One of her favorite past times was to sit on her balcony at night and count the stars. She also looked forward to getting calls from her children every day.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elijah Chubbs and Annie Laura Johnson and her brother Howard A Chubbs, her son Eddie B. Collins Jr. and daughter Lori D. Collins.
Mae was blessed with a large loving family. She was survived by her sisters Hazel L. Smith and Stephanie Lane-Baker and children Elizabeth A. Scott, Belinda M. Joseph, Hazel L (Michael) Weaver, Edward A. Collins, Stacy A. Thompson and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Her Life, Love and Legacy will be continually celebrated throughout the years to come.
A visitation for Mae will be held Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. A memorial service will occur Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. A reception will occur Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131.
