Mama Castro, a beloved figure, born on March 11, 1933 to Rizal Pelimiano and Sophia Balinado in Mendez, Cavite, Philippines, embarked on a compassionate journey, pursuing a Nursing degree at Arellano University in Manila. Her grace and charm led her to be crowned Miss Arellano University circa 1950. On July 18, 1954, she married Jose F O Castro, known affectionately as Papa Peping. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family of 9 children, of which 7 remain.
Mama is reunited in eternity with her devoted husband Papa Peping, and her firstborns Gil and Ernesto.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Goldie, Sheila, Paul, Lumen, Jun, Joy, Ronnie, Peachie, Jojo, Weena, Ernie, Jenny, along with an extensive lineage of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, their names a testament to her enduring legacy.
The opportunity to pay respects will be offered from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 17, at Palm Mortuary Northwest. Refreshments will be served between 5:00pm and 7:00pm, during which we can observe a moment of solace and privately shared memories. A solemn Rosary and Novena for the departed will begin at 7:00pm, graciously concluding by 8:00pm.
The Funeral Mass, a heartfelt tribute, is scheduled for the following day, Thursday, July 18, at St. Anthony of Padua from 10:30am to 11:30am. The solemn duty of pallbearers for Mama will be carried out by her grand children Jeffrey, Gene, Toby, Paolo, Timmy, Karlo, Joncy, and Nico.
The interment rites will begin at 12:00 noon back at Palm Mortuary Northwest. A gathering to honor Mama's life will follow at the chapel/reception area from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. All arrangements are thoughtfully overseen by Palm Mortuary Northwest.
The family of Mama wishes to convey their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate Southwest Medical Associates Hospice team, whose tender care eased Mama's transition. They offer profound appreciation to all the caregivers who devotedly tended to Mama's needs with love, especially Merlou, a steadfast presence until the final moments. Your unwavering dedication will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
