Marcelina M Martin

Our Mother, Marcelina M. Martin, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith, family, and resilience. Born in Dagupan, Philippines, to a hardworking tailor and a dedicated mother, she grew up surrounded by a close-knit extended family that spanned four generations.

Her youth was interrupted in 1941 by the Japanese occupation, which forced her family to flee. Despite wartime scarcity, her determination never wavered. After the war, she remarkably completed her remaining high school education in just 18 months, later studying Business Administration at night while working as a secretary.

Near the Dagupan Pantal shipping port, she met our father, Felipe Martin, whom she married in 1953. Together, they raised four children: Zeny, Marissa, Tony, and Mylene. Our mother also formally adopted a young girl, Linda, who helped care for the family and was loved deeply as one of their own. Her family eventually grew to include eight lovely grandchildren & eight beautiful great grand children.

While raising their children, Mommy worked in city accounting and Daddy served in the Social Security Administration, eventually building a proud, four-bedroom home on her mother’s land. Raised Catholic, Marcelina’s spiritual path expanded when her family discovered The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1975. Our Dad Felipe, youngest daughter Mylene, and son Tony accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached by LDS missionaries. Finally, Mom also embrace LDS faith after years of quiet reflection.

In the 1980s, Our Dad & Mom was petitioned & immigrated to America joining Zeny & Marissa. In her later years, she was tenderly cared for by her children, living with her daughter Marissa and spending a long, cherished period with her eldest daughter, Zeny. Our Mom will always be remembered as a woman of immense strength, grace, and unwavering devotion to God and family.
