Marcos was born to Juan and Edith Macias on July 17, 1990. He was raised with two siblings. Marcos had two older sisters, Sheila and Janny. The Macias’ was a close knit family who enjoyed regular family dinners, taking vacations, and celebrating milestones together. Marcos was baptized Roman Catholic; he maintained his spirituality and a special connection with God throughout his life. As a young boy, Marcos was curious, resourceful and interested in anything original. Marcos played soccer and was very active. He graduated from Palo Verde High School in 2008.
Marcos was socially resourceful, an expressive person who was willing to try new things. These qualities drew a lively circle of friends around him. He was always concerned with everyone’s interests and well being; Marcos was never judgmental of his friends and was always willing to lend a hand. He was sought after by people who recognized that he was generous with his time and energy, and these same friends found Marcos to be kind hearted and a positive influence. Marcos's humor and bigger than life smile were contagious for those around him. While growing up, some of his best friends were his cousins who he grew up with. Later in life, he became best friends with Alejandro De La Cruz, Fernando Pimentel, Octavio Burgus and Diego Burgus.
Armed with an upbeat personality and positive vibe, Marcos was a focused worker with a strong drive for achievement. His personal initiative inspired those around him. His primary occupation was as a sales associate at Cricket Wireless. Marcos always made an effort to be a team player, doing what was needed was necessary in order to get the job done.
Marcos's passion for finding a better way to do things was often an end in itself for him. He was always searching for new and unusual activities; whether it be new hobbies, new concerts to go to, or new places to visit. His friends and family understood that Marcos simply couldn’t be limited to just a few activities or ideas. His favorite pass times were longboarding, listening to music, raving and shuffling.
Marcos's “chill” attitude and eternally positive outlook served him well in life. He was a person who believed that he could achieve whatever he set out to do. Having the opportunity to visit and explore a new place always intrigued Marcos. One of his goals was to travel and see the world. He often enjoyed road trips with his friends, loved visiting California, and his favorite vacation was when he went to Cancun in 2011. He was looking forward to attending EDC and had plans to visit Spain in the summer.
Marcos passed away on January 19, 2012 at Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas, Nevada where he fell while hiking. He is survived by his parents Juan and Edith; and two sisters, Sheila and Janny. Services were held at St Frances De Sales Catholic Church. Marcos was laid to rest in Palm Northwest Cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada.
During his lifetime, nothing appeared impossible to Marcos. He met the words “it can’t be done” with the enthusiastic challenge of “anything is possible.” Marcos was able to recognize the possibilities a new idea held, even when those around him could not. For Marcos, the traditional way of doing things fell short of his expectations. He was always in a good mood, carried a constant smile on his face, and lived life to the fullest. Marcos had no regrets, never looked back, and was truly happy during every moment of his life.
Marcos Manuel Macias lived a happier 21 years of life than most can live in a century. He will truly be missed by family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of meeting him. May he fly with the angels and live happily in God’s Kingdom.
