

was born in Carthage, Texas on December 9, 1929, to the union of Benjamin and Bessie Rogers.
She left Texas after school and first moved to California, traveled and lived in Alaska, and later
Las Vegas, Nevada.
Margaret worked at the famous Peggy’s restaurant in Alaska and continued her passion for
hospitality at the Stardust Hotel where she retired. Margaret loved the lord and became a faithful
member of Second Baptist Church for over 25 years and also served on the Nurses Gile. Margaret
was known for her impeccable fashion sense, especially her hats. Margaret also enjoyed social
settings like the Red Hat Society, Doolittle Center, and the Senior Centers in the Historic Westside
Las Vegas.
Margaret’s true life's work was in the love she poured into her children Joe Oliver Maddox, Gerald,
and Margaret Honeycutt (Little Margaret). Margaret had a deep love for family and tradition. She
cherished traveling and visiting loved ones. Margaret’s life was a testament to love, strength, and
dedication. She was a light to those who knew her and a pillar of wisdom and grace. Her family
and friends celebrate her beautiful life and the love she shared with all who had the privilege of
knowing her.
Margaret Honeycutt leaves to cherish her memory, two children Gerald, and Little Margaret and
grandchildren. Two nieces Margaret Rogers and Elaine White- Hutto. Six great nieces, and two
nephews. Fourteen great-great nieces and nephews. Seven great-great-great nieces and nephew
as well as a host of other family and friends.
Preceded her in death was her mother and father. (Son ) Joe Oliver Maddox, (Sisters) Louise
Bolden and Ruth Pleasant. (Nieces) Vera Davis, Bernell Hardeman, and great-great-great niece
Kendall Brown.
To pay tribute to “Big Auntie,” each of her nieces adorns one of her many beautiful hats, and her nephews wear “red”—as was her favorite color.
