

Margaret Anne Blakemore Matlock, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at the age of 86, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to family.
Margaret was born on June 12, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, to James Ballard Blakemore and Louise Frances Avery. She spent her formative years in Phoenix, Arizona, where she developed a lifelong love of reading and participated in high school drama. She graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1957 and continued her education at Phoenix Junior College before earning her Associate’s Degree from Pikes Peak Junior College in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
As a devoted military wife for 20 years, Margaret embraced a life of travel and service, living in Arizona, Colorado, California, Washington, Illinois, Utah, Nevada, and Alaska. In 1975, she made Colorado Springs her home, where she resided for 44 years before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2019.
Margaret built a career marked by dedication and leadership. She managed various retail stores, including those within the Army-Air Force Exchange System and Readers Cards & Gifts, and later served as an office manager for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A lifelong and faithful member of her church, Margaret devoted countless hours to serving others. She taught classes for children and women, served as a representative for single adults, and fulfilled a calling as a stake missionary. Her commitment to service extended beyond her church, as she volunteered with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Pikes Peak Hospice organizations, the Colorado Springs Library, and the Denver Temple.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Oscar Columbus Blakemore and Melissa DiLemma Timberman, and William Henry Avery and Virginia May Jewell; her sister, Frances Louise Blakemore Blaisdell; and her son-in-law, Mike Iverson.
She is survived by her sister, Carolynn Sue Blakemore Dinger; her children, Robert Vinson Matlock, Deborah Anne Matlock Sanborn (Rod), Sharon Lynne Matlock Iverson, and Elizabeth Jane Matlock Holmes (Don). She also leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren: Shannon Konchalski, Christopher Konchalski, Michael Sanborn, David Sanborn, Dusty Matlock, Aaron Sanborn, Kyle Iverson, Jessica Matlock, Jonathan Sanborn, Nichelle Sanborn, Christopher Fuller, Denver Matlock, Hannah Holmes, and Braden Holmes, as well as 27 cherished great-grandchildren.
Margaret will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous spirit, and the love she extended to everyone she met. Her life was a testament to service, compassion, and enduring strength, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
