In Loving Memory of My Mom

My beautiful mom lived 91 years, leaving behind a lifetime of love, kindness, faith, and memories that I will treasure forever. She had an unconditional love for her family and a deep faith in God that was woven into everything she did. She may not have always said a lot, but she showed her love in countless ways.

Some of my most precious memories are the simple things that will forever hold a special place in my heart. Mom taught me how to bake pies and make her chocolate cake with her famous chocolate coffee icing. Those recipes were more than just desserts; they were pieces of her that she passed down to me, and I will think of her every time I make them.

I will miss our many conversations as I drove home from work. She always wanted to know how my day went. It was such a simple thing, but it meant so much to know that someone cared enough to ask and truly wanted to hear about my day.

One memory that will always make me smile is when Mom flew to California to be with me while Dad was in the hospital. I was making dinner and turned on some Dolly Parton music. All of a sudden, Mom started singing along and tapping her feet. I hadn’t heard her sing in years. For that moment, I got to see that joyful, carefree side of her again. It was a gift I will always cherish.

I will never forget all the beautiful clothes she sewed for me, or the crocheted shawls she stayed up late making so they would be ready in time. That was Mom—always giving of herself, always making sure the people she loved had something special.

She didn’t just welcome me into her heart; she welcomed my friends, too. She sewed for them, made beautiful flower corsages for their special events, and opened our home for countless sleepovers. She made everyone feel welcome and loved. That was simply who she was.

Mom, thank you for the love you gave so freely, the faith you lived by, the traditions you passed down, and the memories that will live in my heart forever. Love you

Our sweet Grandma Headrick passed away on Saturday. I’m choosing to remember all the wonderful memories we have with her in hopes that it will trump the sadness of losing her. From the moment we met, I felt an instant connection. We enjoyed talking about cooking, work stories, and eventually life as a military spouse and raising children. Our girls also adored her and soaked up all the visits with card playing, cake eating (she made the best cakes and pies and jams), and telling her all about school and what they were interested in. I will always appreciate the intentional time she spent with all of us and the wisdom she gave when we asked for advice. RIP Marilyn Headrick.❤️Ryan & Susan

Today my heart is heavy as I say goodbye to my loving grandmother. She was truly one of the sweetest and most caring women you could ever meet. She loved God, loved her family, and had a way of making everyone around her feel loved and welcomed.

Some of my best memories are of the meals she made and the love she put into everything she cooked. But more than the food, I’ll remember the person she was. She was always there for me, no matter what, with love, encouragement, and a caring heart.

I’m thankful to God for every moment, every conversation, every meal, and every memory I was blessed to share with her. It’s hard knowing you’re gone, Grandma, but I know the love you gave us will stay with us forever.

Grandma. I love you, and I’ll miss you more than words can say. Until we meet again. Matt

It’s with a heavy heart that I share that my grandma has passed away and is now with the Lord.

She was truly the matriarch of our family, the queen of jam and pies, a woman who spoke when needed, and when she did, everyone listened.

I will always cherish the summers I spent with her and all the little things she taught me. Like how to iron, because “every wife needs to know.” Mind you, I was 9…and ended up burning myself. 😂 Those are the memories I’ll hold onto forever.

We shared a love of reading, and one of my favorite things was exchanging books with her. Whenever I got one of hers, I couldn’t wait to find her little notes written in the margins. Sometimes I think I loved reading her thoughts just as much as the book itself. And speaking of writing, she had the most beautiful penmanship.

She loved her family fiercely and welcomed everyone…until she didn’t. 😂 Everyone always knew exactly where they stood with Grandma. Maybe that’s where I get it from.

Grandma, I love you, and I’m going to miss you beyond belief. Thank you for everything you taught me, everything you shared with me, and for always believing in me. I’m so grateful for every memory, every lesson, every laugh, and every piece of you that I get to carry with me.

There is comfort in knowing you’re with our Lord now, and I just know PopPop was there waiting for you, asking, “What took you so long?”

Keep your love wrapped around all of us. I promise there won’t be a day that goes by that I don’t think of you.

And please give PopPop and my Dad the biggest hug for me. 🤍Danielle
