November 2, 1949 – June 18, 2026
Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to Marjorie Ann Present, a woman whose love knew no limits and whose generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born to John William and Elizabeth Clara Batykefer on November 2, 1949, Marjorie was the youngest of five children. She spent her life creating a home filled with love, laughter, good food, and open arms.
Marjorie was many things to many people: a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister and aunt, loyal friend, and most proudly, "Bubbie." To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was a source of unconditional love and endless support. They brought her immense joy and were among her greatest blessings. To every child she met, she was Bubbie, too. No child ever left her home without a hug, a full belly, and the feeling that they were special.
She loved traveling, going to the theatre, dining out, and exploring a wide variety of cuisines. Whether enjoying a meal at a favorite local restaurant or discovering new foods while traveling, she found joy in sharing those experiences with family and friends. She also loved cooking meals that brought loved ones together around her table. Her greatest joy was simply being surrounded by the people she loved.
Marjorie is survived by her son, James Michael Bassett, and his wife, Barbara; her grandchildren, Collin Bassett and his wife, Zoie, and their sons, Jethro and Hugh; Trevor Bassett; Michaela Bassett-Uri and her husband, Will; Bryce Bassett and his fiancée, Vanessa; and Shane Bassett; her stepson, Richard Present, and his son Kaleb; her stepson, Erron Present; her beloved sister, Janet Raible; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom she loved dearly and held a special place in her heart.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joel Present, whose memory she cherished deeply.
Marjorie will be remembered for her boundless generosity, her compassionate heart, her love of family, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and cared for. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, warmth, and unconditional love. She taught us that family is built through love, that everyone deserves a place at the table, and that the simplest gestures often leave the deepest impact.
Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Funeral and burial services will be held on Sunday, June 21, at 9:00 a.m. at Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetery, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada.
