

Mark is survived by his life partner - Christina Veltkamp, daughter- Amanda Heckard, son- Brandon Ettelt, mother- Merry Jean Ettelt-Mayville, brother- Christopher Ettelt and sisters- Jeannie Sabol and Cindy King.
Mark was an honorable man, serving as a Cryptologic Technician (Maintenance) First Class for 20 years before retiring from the Navy in 2000. Mark received numerous awards, medals and citations for outstanding performance and service to his country. After retiring from the Navy, Mark worked as a government contractor which took him to New Mexico and Alaska.
In addition to working as a government contractor, Mark joined the Volunteer New Mexico Mounted Patrol in 2002. He served until he relocated to Anchorage Alaska.
It should be no surprise that after retirement, Mark developed a deep passion for Amateur Radio (HAM). This outlet provided him the opportunity to incorporate his years of military training into his retirement hobby.
Mark mostly lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, however he spent most summers in Alaska. Throughout Mark’s journeys and travels, he made countless friends along the way. Mark valued his friendships with loyalty, respect, and love. His friends and family will miss him dearly.
