Marlene was born on June 30, 1974 at LBJ Hospital in Faga’alu, American Samoa. Her family moved to Oahu, HI where she grew up most of her life. She attended Waipahu Elementary and intermediate and finished off with Waipahu High School and Hawaii Job Corps. Marlene was born to Tu’u Ilalio Ionane Maifea Tuanaitau (Father) and Janet Stehlin Samoa Maifea (Mother) and is survived by her husband Iona Pene Jr (Ene), five brothers and one sister, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marlene met the love of her life in 1990 in Hawaii when he moved there from California. He eventually moved back to California a year later and they lost contact for the next sixteen years. She moved to Las Vegas in 2006 and reconnected with the love of her life, her now husband, Iona (Ene) Pene Jr who was currently residing in San Francisco, CA at the time. Iona then moved to Las Vegas and they became ONE in the eyes of GOD on September 14, 2007. Unfortunately, Marlene could not conceive children, yet was considered “AUNTIE-MAMA” to all her siblings as well as her husband’s sibling’s kids. Both Marlene and Iona (Ene) decided to adopt four beautiful fur babies whom they considered their children: Makai (12 yrs.), Princess (8 yrs.), Lady Bug (5 yrs.) and Blessing (2 yrs.).
In November 2015, Marlene became a huge pioneer in the planting of what became her heart-her church- GREAT LIFE 702. She helped plow the ground for Pastors David and Debbie Katina to bring forth what would be the ministry that Marlene served her last days as Deaconess of the ministry in March 2017 under mentorship of Pastors Philip and Siai Gapelu. Both her and her husband’s work and servanthood has been greatly recognized by many. On July 5th 2020 at 1:43pm. Deaconess Marlene Maifea Pene took her last breath. You are so loved and will be missed by many our dearest Lene!
Go with God lene! We Love you!
