Merrill Keith Molsberry, 102, a property investor here in Las Vegas since 1981, died in his home August 21, 2022. He was born September 23, 1919 in Lime Springs, Iowa. His high school graduation was in Randolph, Iowa. Five days after receiving his bachelor of science degree from Iowa State College, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, during World War II. He spent two years aboard a buoy tender on Lake Michigan.
Merrill married Frances McMahill in 1942, and they were married 74 years, until Frances died December 4, 2016, at the age of 92. They had 3 children; Jean Sorrells (Raymond) of Las Vegas; Lane Molsberry (Anastasia) and Kenneth Michael Molsberry (Chris) of Seattle. Lane died in 2011.
Jean has 4 children; Earl Sorrells (Dana) of Nampa, Idaho; Dawn (John) Drake of Sparks, Nevada, Scott (Marla) Sorrells of Redding, California and Dana (Greg) Tamcke of Marana, Arizona.
Lane had a son, James, who lives in Florida with his mother.
Merrill and Frances had 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Merrill had an advertising agency and printing company in Azusa, California for 22 years before becoming a real estate agent. The Molsberrys exchanged rental houses, apartments and an auto center in California for investment property in Nevada, before coming to Henderson in 1981.
They bought a new home in South Shores in 1991. They were also the first to close escrow in the 83-home Summerlin Meridian tract in 2002 where Merrill had served as treasurer on the Home Owners Association board for 19 years.
