Some people simply pass through this world. Michael Francis Colvin built something while he was here.

He built businesses. He built communities. He built opportunities for others. He built friendships that lasted, a reputation

earned through decades of hard work, and - above everything else - a family he loved beyond measure.

Michael Francis Colvin, 58, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on September 15, 2026, leaving behind a life defined by

faith, determination, generosity, laughter, and an extraordinary capacity to make an impression on nearly everyone fortunate

enough to know him.

Born and raised in Nevada, Michael learned early the value of hard work. Some of his earliest memories were made

alongside his father, working ranch life, running cattle, and learning lessons that would remain with him throughout his life:

work hard, stand by your word, take care of your people, and never be afraid to build something from the ground up.

Those lessons became the foundation of an extraordinary career.

Michael graduated from Tonopah High School in 1986 and later studied construction management at the University of

Nevada, Las Vegas. While pursuing his education, his entrepreneurial drive was already pulling him toward the future he

envisioned. He stepped away from college not because his ambitions had become smaller, but because they had become

larger.

He was ready to build.

Michael went on to establish himself as a respected businessman and leader in Nevada's construction industry. His career

included work in land contract coordination and residential construction with Pulte Homes, followed by his leadership of

Colvin Concrete Services from 1993 to 1998. In 1998, he founded Colvin Construction, LLC, where he served as managing

member and helped grow the company across multiple trades, including concrete, drywall, framing, and construction.

Over the years, his work expanded into land acquisition, improvement, development, and property holdings. His

accomplishments earned him recognition within Nevada's construction community, including recognition from the Nevada

Subcontractors Association in 2019.

Yet listing Michael's professional achievements tells only a fraction of his story.

Michael was successful at what he did, but the measure of his life was never confined to what he owned, built, or

accomplished. It was found in the people he loved.

His children knew another side of him entirely. They knew the father with the enormous bear hugs. The father who had an

answer - or at least some sound advice - when life became complicated. The father who could make people laugh, who loved

food and music, and who treasured simply being together with the people he loved. Traveling and hockey with his son

were among the joys he treasured most - time together, shared experiences, and memories that will always remain an

irreplaceable part of Michael's legacy as a father.

They knew a man who was driven and ambitious, but also funny, affectionate, optimistic, and deeply loving. Michael had a

personality that filled a room. He carried laughter with him, and those who knew him knew there was rarely anything

ordinary about his presence. He could be larger than life and remarkably tender at the same time.

For Amelia Mae, Ella, and Benjamin, however, he was something even greater than the businessman so many others knew.

He was Dad.

And among all the titles Michael carried throughout his life - CEO, contractor, entrepreneur, developer, community leader -

none meant more.

Michael's Christian faith was also an important part of his life. A born-again Christian, he attended Las Vegas Bible Church

and served as a board member. His faith was expressed not only in belief, but in generosity toward others. He supported

charitable work, including Compassion International, and participated in community efforts in Las Vegas, partnering with

organizations and businesses such as SASA Las Vegas and Toll Brothers on school-supply drives benefiting local children.

Michael understood that success carried with it the opportunity to give something back.

He worked hard. He dreamed big. He loved fiercely. And he gave generously.

Michael was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Juanita Colvin.

He is survived by his father, Benjamin Colvin; his children, Amelia Mae Colvin, Ella Colvin, and Benjamin Colvin; his

siblings, Deborah Wray, Theresa Boutcher, Kevin Colvin, and Lori Grubbs, along with their spouses and families;

twelve nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; and an extraordinary circle of extended family, friends,

colleagues, employees, and members of the Las Vegas community who were fortunate enough to have known him.

There are lives that can be neatly summarized by dates, titles, and accomplishments. Michael's cannot.

His life exists in businesses still standing, in projects bearing the fingerprints of his determination, in children who carry his

love forward, in people who still hear his advice in their minds, and in every story that begins with a smile and the words,

"You remember Mike..."

The true monument to Michael Francis Colvin will never be made of concrete, steel, or stone. It is made of people - the

people he loved, encouraged, employed, helped, challenged, made laugh, wrapped in those unforgettable bear hugs, and

inspired to build something of their own.

He spent a lifetime building things meant to last. In the end, the greatest thing he built was a legacy.

And that legacy will stand long after the work is finished.

Funeral services are private. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date for family and friends to gather and celebrate Michael's life and legacy.
