December 25, 1959 – October 7, 2026
Michael James Keogh, MD, 66, of North Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on October 7, 2026. Born on Christmas Day in 1959, Michael lived a full life defined by family, service, medicine, and an enduring love of the game of golf.
Michael grew up in Bridgewater, New Jersey, and attended Muhlenberg College before earning his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He served in the United States Air Force and continued his medical training in San Antonio, completing his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiovascular disease through the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. He went on to build a long career as a cardiologist, physician, educator, and medical leader.
His career and life took him to communities across the country, including San Antonio, Texas; Vallejo, California; Waynesville, North Carolina; Reno, Nevada; and ultimately North Las Vegas, Nevada. Wherever he lived, medicine was an important part of Michael's life, but anyone who knew him also knew where you could often find him when he wasn't working: on a golf course.
Michael truly lived for golf. Over the years, he accomplished something most golfers spend a lifetime chasing: six holes-in-one. The game brought him countless hours of enjoyment, challenge, stories, friendships, and, undoubtedly, a healthy measure of both triumph and frustration.
Yet for all the accomplishments in Michael's life, perhaps no title meant more to him than grandfather. His granddaughter, Lyla, was truly the apple of his eye. The joy and pride she brought him were immeasurable, and the bond they shared will remain an especially treasured part of his legacy.
Michael was the beloved son of the late Michael John Keogh and Barbara Kuklis. He is survived by his son, Michael Christopher Keogh; his daughter, Allison Christine Keogh; his beloved granddaughter, Lyla Marie; his sisters, Laura Jean Keogh and Christine Leigh Stone (Keogh); as well as his extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and others who loved him.
Michael’s life took him from New Jersey to communities across the country, through service in the Air Force and a long career caring for others. He was a physician and a lifelong golfer who could proudly claim six holes-in-one, but some of his greatest joys came simply from having the people he loved together. In recent years, he made the family’s annual beach trips a priority, appreciating the time they gave everyone to reconnect, laugh, relax, and make memories together. Above all, he cherished his family, and his granddaughter Lyla was truly the apple of his eye. He will be deeply missed as a father, grandfather, brother, physician, golfer, and friend, and remembered through the many stories and memories shared by those who loved him.
A memorial service celebrating Michael's life will be held Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Palm Mortuary–Northwest, 6701 North Jones Boulevard in Las Vegas, Nevada followed by an intimate reception at Aliante Golf Club.
