Mike passed away on July 3, 2017 after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on April 3, 1942 and lived in the Mid-west until after his high school graduation from St. Catherine’s High School in Racine, WI. The family then moved to Southern California where Mike saw a whole different lifestyle and he totally embraced it. Mike served two years in the Army during the Viet Nam War and upon his return from the military he began a career in finance / banking by repossessing cars for a finance company. He soon moved into banking, and in 1971 he moved to Las Vegas and began his career in Las Vegas with the original Bank of Nevada. He also worked for Nevada National Bank, Security Pacific Bank, retiring from Wells Fargo in 2007. He also owned his own mortgage company for several years. Mike loved life and lived each day as fully as possible. His first love in life was family and friends, followed closely by his love of sports. His favorites were NASCAR, St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Celtics, and Detroit Lions. When Mike and Marlene retired they traveled 9 years in their RV, spending anywhere from 4 to 7 months a year on the road. They managed to visit all of the lower 48 and British Columbia. Every day on the road was a new adventure since Mike would get up early and explore all of the nearby surroundings. The road trips helped complete everything on his bucket list. Of course Marlene joined him on the adventures. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Lorraine Kirch. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marlene, his brother Steve Kirch, his sister Mary Olsen, and several nieces and nephews.
