Born in Boston, MA on February 21st 1950 to parents Mary & James Maguire. One of five siblings: Mary, Kathy, Jimmy, & Joey. Mike was the middle child. He grew up in Quincy, MA where he made life long friends: Jimmy, Bobby, Louie, & Steve. Growing up his mother would come home from work to find the house full of Mike’s friends… even when he wasn’t home. She didn’t mind though because in her eyes, Michael could do no wrong.
A lover of music and good times, with his handsome looks and charming personality, he won over his future bride tending bar at Thackery’s Table & Tap in Weymouth.
Mike or “Mickey” as she calls him, proposed to Lynn in Negril, Jamaica (they told the best stories about that trip) and married her at a beautiful ceremony on the Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA. The two celebrated their honeymoon on a legendary 6 week road trip driving across country. Visiting Niagara falls, hiking and dancing to Bluegrass in the Smokey Mountains, partying too hard in New Orleans, exploring the Grand Canyon, and finding adventures in San Francisco and Las Vegas.
Vegas became home and it was at this time he found his life purpose as THE BEST DAD EVER. His two girls, Jessie born in 1984 & Kelly in 1987, became his whole world. Although he had a career in hospitality working at Caesars Palace for over 20 years, “Dad” was his proudest accomplishment.
Mike loved bringing his girls back east to visit family and friends. He was very close to his sister Mary (they were each other’s favorite) and adored being an uncle to his nieces, Heather & Neisa.
In 1996 he decided to get sober and never looked back. He became active in AA later in life to help Jessie get sober and ended up being a huge support for many others in their recovery.
As an animal lover Mike always had a four legged companion. He took caring for his animals just as seriously as his daughters. Mike enjoyed listening to music, reading the newspaper, playing sudoku, solitaire, and doing the crossword. Mike had the best sense of humor and always impressed everyone with his trivia knowledge. He was very passionate about being on the right side of history and putting his energy towards doing good in the world.
Mike enjoyed watching sports as a lifelong Red Sox and Patriots fan, but picking up a golf club is where he got to show off his skills. Mike loved golfing and tried hard not to make everyone else on the course look bad.
In 2025 after some convincing, Mike moved out of his condo (that he’d lived in since 1993) and into a beautiful home with his daughter Jessie and close pal Alex, bringing along his cat Noodle, dog Saint, and of course his 3 goldfish.
Once he had his movie & CD collection displayed, records and art hung on the walls, and newspaper/puzzle station set up he was in heaven.
Dad passed away in the home on August 3rd 2026, happy & content with how he lived his life, surrounded by love.
