On Thursday, December 10, 2020 Michael Todd Murray, 57, was killed while riding the 130 mile Nipton Loop with a group of talented and experienced cyclists. A truck struck the back of the group killing Michael and four of his friends and injuring three others. Michael was born August 31, 1963 in Salt Lake City, Utah, although he was a lifelong resident of Las Vegas. Mike was born the sixth child to Harold and Valeen Murray. He attended and graduated from Bonanza High School in 1981. Michael was very active in the AA program and was a motivational speaker, sober for more than 17 years himself. He took great pride in this and was very happy to help others on the path to sobriety. Michael had a lot of energy and cycling seemed to help him to channel his energy. He loved it and had a great passion for adventure since childhood. In 2019 Michael was able to cycle around France. He was competative, charismatic, charming, good looking, friendly, a guy who never forgot anyone. He had an interest in most sports and loved to do fantasy football, and watch the KC Royals. He had a great love for dogs especially his latest, Bentley. Once Mike met you he found your interest and somehow magically knew all about it! So kind to others and compassionate to his fellowman and always considerate of not making someone feel bad. Mike will be missed by many because of his lasting friendships and love for people. Michael is preceded in death by his loving parents Harold and Valeen Murray, brother Jeffery Brent Murray, and nephew Matthew Todd Brown. He is survived by sisters Judy (Steve) Brown, Annette (Monte) Brown, brothers David Murray, Douglas(Carol) Murray. Many aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Thank you to all who have shared in our grief. We appreciate your love and kindness. Services will be private and a memorial will be held at later date.
