Mimi was born on September 12th, 1934, in Brooklyn New York to Domenico and Caterina Addamo. The youngest of 5 children, Mimi had 2 sisters and 2 brothers: Eva, Margaret, Frank and Vincent. They all grew up on Palmetto Street in Bushwick Brooklyn. In Mimi’s early years there was a lot of family time, school and eventually chaperoned dating with her brother Vincent as the chaperone. Eventually in 1958 she met Nicola Ferreri and on June 28th, 1959, they were married. By 1960 Mimi (who was also known as Mary to many of her friends) and Nicola had moved to Middle Village, Queens and purchased a house on 77th place, not far from her sisters Margaret and Eva and a short drive from her brother Vincent. Mimi and Nicola traveled often to Italy where Nicola’s family lived, visiting the towns where Nicola and her mother grew up. She met her in laws for the first time in 1960 and built bonds of family that were still there until the day she passed. In 1968 they adopted a son Nicholas. Many of Mimi’s neighbors always asked when she would have a child and one day when Mimi answered “tomorrow” they laughed. The next day there were diapers hanging from the clothesline. Mimi was a hard-working woman, wife and mother. She was always putting her family first and above all, doing the things needed to help make her family happy, healthy and successful. Mimi loved bowling, card nights with friends and family, stamp collecting, reading, travel (as long as no planes were involved), sports book, bingo and most of all family. Mimi was a Mother in Law to Maryann also a Grandma to Angelina, Jessica and Kristen and Great Grandma to Selena, Brayden, Logan and Miguel. In later years Mimi devoted every moment of her day to Nicola due to continuing health issues until his passing in 2014. Mimi is now back with Nicola for eternity along with the rest of her family; Caterina her mom, Eva, Margaret, Frank and Vincent. Throughout her life my mom did many things (more than I can ever list on these few lines). Mom touched many lives, changed mine forever just by adopting me and helped whoever she could. Mom was tough but fair, even if I didn’t agree- but in the end she was right. Now that she is at peace and back with my Dad, I know mom is happy, I also know I have one more guardian angel watching over me. You will be missed, by none more than me mom. I will love you always.
A celebration of life for Mimi will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131, followed by a reception from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmnorthwest.com for the Ferreri family.
