Our beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt, Miriam Antelo Clarke, has joined God in heaven at the tender age of 59. Miriam was born to Cuban immigrants, Julio Sr. and Haydee Antelo, of New York’s Hudson Valley in a home built by her father and brother nestled in historic Stony Point. Her father Julio was a well-known contractor who owned construction companies and Hilcrest Kitchens through the 1970s and 80s. Miriam worked in the medical field as a biller for Dr. Noah Weg for many years and continued in this profession throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her parents and survived by her husband Kenneth Clarke, her daughters Katelyn and Alexa, her siblings, big brother Julio Antelo Jr., younger sister Virginia Guthrie and her littlest sister Amy Reinecke. Miriam married her beloved husband Kenneth Clarke of Samsondale Plaza in West Haverstraw and had two beautiful daughters of whom she was incredibly proud Katelyn Dee Clarke (25) and Alexa Rose Clarke (21). She moved to Henderson, Nevada in 2004 with her father, sisters, husband and children where she has formed a community of friends who love her dearly.
Miriam was extremely beautiful, inside and out. She is best remembered for her long thick spiral curls, bright eyes and gorgeous smile. Though Miriam was the quiet type, she had deep heart-bonds with her family and close friends that could never be broken. A quote she recently shared on Instagram stated, “Love is when the other person’s happiness is more important than your own.” Miriam was gifted at connecting, was a deeply moral, accepting, welcoming and selfless person for whom imperfect was perfect. She always saw the bigger picture and prayed nightly for her family. Miriam had strong faith and was a very spiritual woman. She influenced and guided her family, was a wonderful godmother and protector. Miriam was a devoted wife and attentive mother who through her intimate bond soothed her daughters' every worry and celebrated their every success. She was a fantastic cook and baker. Miriam acquired this passion through her father who loved to cook Cuban dishes. Her family was very close and her highest priority. As children Miriam and Virginia were Miyi and Beanie, inseparable little girls who played, laughed and triumphed over every hardship and challenge that came their way together; this forged a deep bond that persisted into adulthood. Miriam called Virginia her “best friend". Miriam shared milestones, holidays and countless special moments with her sisters, brothers and sister in law, and their families. Miriam adored her nieces and nephews to whom she was a second mother. Miriam was “granty” to her nieces' children and treated them as her own grandchildren. She loved babies and her copper colored goldendoodle Penny. She knew when those she loved needed her warmth and her kindness which was inescapable.
Miriam had many dreams and had recently told her sister Virginia that she was “very happy.” She was beyond excited to watch her daughters chase their own dreams, one attending graduate school and the other a talented actress who is training as a healthcare professional. Miriam was quirky and funny, very loving and affectionate. Miriam had an infectious laugh that lit up rooms. Miriam was a devoted fan of Lucy and Desi who she called her solace. We pray that she is at peace and in laughter with them, her late parents and her dogs Cori and Murphy. Shortly before her passing, Miriam purchased a painting of Peck’s Pond in West Haverstraw New York where she spent years walking and talking in deep conversation with her sister Virginia and their girls. She stated she had dreams of living by water again so we hope this is so in her special corner of heaven and have laid her to rest next to a tranquil pond we believe she will enjoy. We are confident Miriam's loving gaze will continue to follow and guide Katelyn, Alexa and their future families throughout their lives. We will love and miss her forever. Until we meet again.
Miyi, I love you and will never stop fighting for our family, your Beanie.
Mir, I love you forever and ever, your husband Kenny
We love you so much mommy, your girls Katey and Alexa.
