With profound love and heartfelt sorrow, we honor the life of Nancy Poe, a devoted mother, adoring grandmother, beloved sister, and truly gentle soul, whose quiet strength and kindness left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
Nancy was born and raised in Sycamore, Illinois, and attended DeKalb High School. It was in her early years that she met her husband, Steve Poe, and together they began building the beautiful family that became the cornerstone of Nancy’s life.
As her children grew, Nancy began working at a local real estate office. She liked it so much that she eventually took, and passed, her real estate exam. But it was within her family that her love shone brightest. She was a proud mother and a devoted grandmother to her cherished grandchildren.
Nancy’s deep devotion was perhaps most evident in the care she gave to her husband Steve during his long illness. Her selfless love and compassion during those years were a reflection of the extraordinary person she was.
Together, Nancy and Steve’s journey took them from Illinois to Missouri then Alabama, before they ultimately settled in Nevada to be near their growing grandchildren—an enduring expression of her boundless love for her family.
She is survived by her children Lisa Wallace (Mark), Linda Poe (Jen), and Steve; her sisters Barb Cochran (Rodger) and Donna Johnson; sister-in-law Pam Craig (John); grandchildren Jessica, Nicole, and Andrew, and nephews Curt, Ken and Keith Cochran, Ryan and Trent Craig, Ryan Poe and niece Aimee Choate; as well as one great granddaughter, Ovella Poe. She was preceded in death by her husband Steve Poe; her mother Ina Johnson, stepfather Everett Johnson, father Robert Bohnsack, brother and sister Kenny and Betty; parents-in-law Myrtle and Kenneth "Spike" Poe, brother-in-law Larry Poe, daughter-in-law Tami Poe and grandson Jacob Ross.
Nancy lived her life with softness, strength, and humility. Her quiet nature held a depth of compassion and warmth. Her legacy is one of deep, unwavering love—a legacy that will live on through the lives she nurtured and the hearts she touched.
A memorial service will be held at Lamb of God Lutheran Church in North Las Vegas on Saturday, August 2nd at 11am, with luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness and love—the way Nancy lived, every single day.
