Nate was born in Chicago, IL to Dorothy and Mickey Walker on March 26, 1972. He was number 9 of 10 brothers and sisters. After graduating from Bloom Trail High School in 1990, Nate moved to Carbondale, IL where he attended Southern Illinois University (SIU). During and after his attendance at SIU, Nate found a passion and love for cooking and began a career in the restaurant industry where he worked for many years. In 2000, Nate and Michelle moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and married in 2001.
Nate went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Education and eventually completed his Master’s in Education in 2008 from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Nate was an employee of the Clark County School District for 13+ years. He loved to teach, mentor and guide his students. He sponsored many after school clubs such as Best Buddies and Golf Club. Watching his students learn, grow and mature brought him so much joy.
Above all else he loved his only child Lawson. Watching Lawson grow into the young man he is today made Nate so proud. The many many car rides they shared just driving around listening to music and being silly, quoting movies and talking smack will never be forgotten.
And then there is Kong, his beloved English Bulldog. Kong was Nate's bestie, the one who listened to his secrets and snored louder than him. They were two peas in a pod, both stubborn, silly and full of mystery.
Nate is survived by Michelle Walker, son Lawson Walker, brothers Rodney Walker, Alfred Walker, Darryl Walker, Neville (Shawna) Walker, sisters Ruth Haynes, Alma Walker, Karla Mendoza, Kim Walker and many many cousins, nieces, nephews; all who he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Nate is requesting donations be made to the American Kidney fund in his memory.
