

Nora Helen Hilt, of Las Vegas, NV, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother found eternal peace on Sunday June 21st in the loving arms of her husband Tom, five children, and grandson, at the age of 90.
Nora was the 4th child of August and Anna Schaefbauer and grew up in Herried, South Dakota. She attended Presentation College and began her life with Thomas Hilt on June 4, 1956. Nora was a homemaker and built a wonderful life for her family. She was a devoted wife and friend to Tom and a fun and generous mother and grandmother. To her children and grandchildren, coming home always meant delicious meals (beef & noodles) with homemade cinnamon rolls or m&m cookies along with a lot of stories, card games and plenty of laughter. She enjoyed quilting and needlepoint and gifted many treasured items to her family and friends throughout the years. She enjoyed taking care of plants and watching the hummingbirds come to her many feeders.
Nora and Tom celebrated 70 years of marriage on June 4, 2026. They enjoyed traveling together and had a lot of adventures all over the world, gathering many close friends along the way. Together, they moved to 18 different cities as part of Tom’s career. Nora made sure that wherever they lived, it felt like home.
Nora is survived by her husband Tom, her five children: Dale Hilt (Nancy) of Brighton, MI; Brian Hilt (Patti) of Minneapolis, MN; Thomas Hilt Jr. (Ann) of Lake In the Hills, IL; Mitchell Hilt (Kim) of Harrison Township, MI; Nicole Comer (Adam) of Columbus, IN; 13 grandchildren: Samantha, Haley, Darci, Teresa, Kelly, Evann, Erinn, Jack, Sara, Ryan, Gretchen, Andrew and August; and 6 great-grandchildren: Peyton, Lincoln, Brady, Clare, Addison, and Maeve. Nora was preceded in death by her parents August and Anna; sister Julie, brothers Danny, Thomas, John, Tim and Patrick; and her granddaughter Courtney.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, on Friday July 31st at 10am in Las Vegas, NV.
